Lauri Hella, Ph.D., Professor
Research
My research area is Finite Model Theory; I am especially interested in
definability issues for generalized quantifiers on finite structures,
and
the role of generalized quantifiers in descriptive complexity theory.
I am leading a research group
of Logic at the University of Tampere. We also have a joint
research
group working on finite model theory together with the Helsinki
logic
group. The finite model theory group organizes a research
seminar, and we are one of the
participants in the Graduate School of Mathematics and Applications.

Teaching
In the autumn 2010, I am teaching the course Diskreetti
matematiikka.
